I have a secret to share with you, friends. This one’s a gold mine, I promise! I have made countless pies with this crust recipe and it is always perfect. I can’t tell you the number of compliments I’ve gotten on my flaky, delicious pie crust. And now, I’m going to share my secret with you lovely people!
An easy, quick, perfect, no roll flaky pie crust.
Rolling Pins are Evil
I don’t know why, but the rolling pin is my nemesis.
About the only thing I can successfully roll out is Play-Doh. For. Real. It has hindered my recipes in the past, and has definitely contributed to stress in the kitchen. But a few years ago I stumbled upon this recipe, and I haven’t looked back since.
There are only 6 basic ingredients in this pie crust, which just goes to prove that you don’t need anything fancy to make a dynamite recipe. Gather your flour, sugar, salt, butter, oil, and milk and a mixing bowl.
Pour your flour, sugar, and salt into your mixing bowl and stir together.
Make a well (like a hole) in the middle of your flour mixture, and add your oil and melted butter. Stir until combined, and then add 3-4 tablespoons of milk.
Grab your trusty pie dish (I use this one from the Pioneer Woman line) and press your pie into an even thickness along the bottom and sides of your pan.
And you’re done! Take a step back and admire the awesomeness that is your beautiful pie crust. Follow your pie recipe for instructions on what to do with it – some pies want you to blind-bake the crust first, while others will have you fill immediately and bake.
Stay tuned tomorrow for a fabulous apple pie recipe using this crust! I can’t wait to share it with you guys.
